About the Lakeshore Collection, Ltd.
Growing up humbly in tiny Livingston, IL, the daughter of a carpenter and empty shell inspector, former Materials, Inventory and Forecasting Manager, Consultant and founder of The Lakeshore Collection, Ltd., Cindy Neuhaus, started collecting model horses in 1969. She was quickly smitten, and had 76 models when she decided, at the ripe old age of 13, that she was "too old" to collect them anymore. After an almost 20 year hiatus, she jumped back in, collecting became a passion, and she now has about 1000 horses, all original finish, in her collection.
Over the years, she grew both in her career, writing, speaking, earning APICS professional CPIM and CIRM certifications, and in her enjoyment of the model horse hobby, discovering the fun of entering and judging model horse shows. And her love particularly grew for "china" model horse sculptures - generally the rarest, priciest, and hardest to find of the genre.
She founded The Lakeshore Collection, Ltd. in 2002, to provide the very best "china" horses money could buy, but modestly priced, so that others could enjoy the beauty, joy and fun of having these remarkable heirloom-quality pieces. Lakeshore quickly started and continues to build upon its tradition of offering high quality, hand crafted and painted, heat fired, fine bisque porcelain limited editions, sculpted by the very finest of today's equine sculptors.
Today, Cindy lives on the shores of Dunlap Lake, in Edwardsville, IL, with her husband of over 30 years, Rick, and their 2 Gordon Setter dogs, Sierra and Nevada. She enjoys reading, music, boating, and, of course, everything model horse related!
